Authorities in Houston have arrested a murder suspect from El Salvador who is believed to be affiliated with the violent MS-13 gang. The arrest took place during a targeted operation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office in the Colony Ridge area.
Luis Miguel Perez-Miranda, 34, was apprehended in Dayton, Texas, just hours after allegedly committing a murder in the Colony Ridge subdivision in Plum Grove, Texas. Following his arrest, he was taken to Liberty County Jail.
According to ICE officials, Perez-Miranda has been deported six times previously.
The arrest was announced by ICE on social media, with officials emphasizing the dangers posed by transnational gangs. Bret Bradford, Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Houston, praised the efforts of the officers involved, stating, “Despite attempts by some to spread false information about ICE, our agents continue to risk their lives to make communities safer.”
Chad Plantz, Special Agent in Charge of ICE Homeland Security Investigations in Houston, also highlighted the importance of collaboration between agencies, adding, “Residents in Southeast Texas can rest easier knowing this dangerous gang member has been removed from the community.”
The arrest is part of a larger crackdown on gang-related crime in the Houston area. In recent months, law enforcement has arrested several individuals suspected of being linked to MS-13 and the Tren de Aragua gang, a criminal organization originally from Venezuela.
Authorities continue to investigate criminal activities linked to transnational gangs, reinforcing efforts to dismantle dangerous networks operating in Texas.
