The Dallas Police Department is investigating an attempted carjacking in Old East Dallas that left one person with serious injuries early Sunday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a shooting just before 4 a.m. in the 5600 block of Richard Avenue. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the midsection. The individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to police, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large. Officers have been canvassing the area, reviewing potential surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses in an effort to identify the suspect.
The identity of the victim has not been released, and further details about the attempted carjacking are still under investigation.
