Child Found by Concerned Citizens

According to the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, the child, who is non-verbal and has autism, was discovered around 5 a.m. Wednesday on the median of W. Mt. Houston Road. Three concerned citizens spotted the boy and immediately called 911.

Deputies arrived at the scene, ensured the child’s safety, and began searching for his family.

Caregiver Arrested for Child Endangerment

Approximately an hour later, around 6 a.m., the child’s mother called 911 after returning to her apartment in the 5700 block of W. Mt. Houston Road. She informed authorities that her son had been left in the care of his aunt.

The aunt, identified as 31-year-old Sade K. Stewart, was arrested and charged with child endangerment. Child Protective Services (CPS) was also contacted regarding the case.

Authorities Urge Vigilance

Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen expressed gratitude to the individuals who intervened, preventing what could have been a tragic situation.

“We are grateful to the members of the community who spotted this young boy and prevented possible tragedy,” Rosen said. “We must remember to take care of our children, especially the most vulnerable members of our society.”

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
