A suspected burglar was shot and detained by shop owners in northwest Houston after they caught him breaking into their mechanic shop early Wednesday morning.
Caught on Camera
According to Houston police, the owners—a man and a woman—were monitoring their security cameras around 1:40 a.m. when they spotted an intruder inside their business on the 1600 block of W 18th Street.
Investigators revealed that the same shop had been burglarized just days earlier, prompting the owners to remain on high alert.
Confrontation Turns Violent
Rushing to the location, the business owners confronted the suspect as he attempted to leave the shop. Authorities say the man became aggressive, leading one of the owners to fire a single shot, striking him in the abdomen.
A nearby Jack in the Box employee assisted in detaining the suspect until police arrived.
Investigation Ongoing
The suspect, believed to be in his 40s, was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive.
The business owners are fully cooperating with the investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Houston police continue to review the case to determine if any further action is necessary.
