Dallas police are pushing back against social media rumors surrounding the incident at the NCA All-Star National Championship at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center over the weekend. While online posts suggested that windows at the venue had bullet holes, authorities say the damage dates back to 2019 and was unrelated to Saturday’s events.
What Happened?
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon during the national cheerleading competition. According to Dallas police, a fight broke out between two people, knocking over multiple poles and creating a loud noise. This led to widespread panic inside the convention center, with attendees rushing toward the exits in what police described as a “stampede.”
As a result, 10 people sustained injuries ranging from minor bumps and bruises to broken bones.
Police Response to Shooting Rumors
Dallas police addressed the social media claims about possible gunfire and bullet holes in the convention center windows. In a statement to FOX 4, the department confirmed that the damage to the windows was previously investigated in 2019 as criminal mischief.
“At this time, we have found no evidence that a shooting occurred on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The investigation is ongoing, and we continue to review video footage,” police said.
Authorities have asked anyone with credible information about a shooting to email [email protected].
Impact on the NCA Event
Following the chaos, the National Cheerleaders Association canceled the remainder of Saturday’s competition. The events that were canceled were rescheduled for Sunday.
Ongoing Investigation
While no arrests have been made, Dallas police have not disclosed whether the individuals involved in the initial fight have been identified. It remains unclear if any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
As the investigation continues, officials urge the public to avoid spreading misinformation and rely on verified reports.
