A 21-year-old man in South Texas has been arrested for allegedly threatening a mass casualty attack on law enforcement officers.
Arrest Details
Corpus Christi police took Seth “Andrea” Gregori into custody on Monday morning following an investigation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Authorities were alerted to terroristic threats Gregori had allegedly made against officers from the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD). The FBI issued a warrant that led to the arrest.
The CCPD released a statement thanking local, state, and federal agencies for their collaboration in ensuring public safety.
Alleged Plot and Charges
According to the Houston FBI office, Gregori allegedly planned an attack similar to the 2016 Dallas police ambush that left five officers dead.
Gregori is currently being held at Nueces County Jail on two misdemeanor charges:
- Terroristic threats (impeding public service and causing public fear or serious bodily injury).
- Criminal trespass.
The bond has been set at $50,000.
Background: 2016 Dallas Police Attack
The alleged plot was reportedly modeled after the July 7, 2016, Dallas police ambush, which remains one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement since 9/11.
During a peaceful protest against police brutality, Micah Xavier Johnson, a 25-year-old Army veteran, opened fire on officers using a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun.
- Five officers were killed (four from Dallas PD and one from Dallas Area Rapid Transit).
- Nine officers and two civilians were wounded.
- Johnson was ultimately killed by a police-controlled explosive device after a standoff.
Authorities continue to investigate Gregori’s case, urging anyone with further information to contact law enforcement.
