The Forest Hill Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, in the 3900 block of Frisco Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two women in the backyard who had been struck by stray bullets. One woman was killed, and her sister sustained injuries.
What We Know:
The victim’s husband identified the deceased as 36-year-old Maria Marisela Camarillo Trujillo. She was sitting by a fire pit when she was shot. Trujillo leaves behind two children, ages 14 and 15.
Preliminary findings indicate that the bullet was fired from approximately one block north of where Trujillo and her sister were hit.
Investigators from multiple agencies are actively working on the case. Authorities have processed evidence, interviewed witnesses, and executed a search warrant near the scene. Several firearms were recovered during the investigation.
What We Don’t Know:
Law enforcement is still working to identify the individual responsible for firing the gun. The name of the injured victim has not been released.
Additional Information:
Officials emphasize that this shooting appears to be an isolated incident and is unrelated to the Friday shooting on Mansfield Highway, where an arrest has already been made.
“The Forest Hill Police Department reminds the community that we are committed to your safety,” authorities stated in a release early Sunday.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact law enforcement.
