Two Houston Police Department (HPD) officers sustained serious injuries in a crash early Sunday morning in Northwest Houston.
According to investigators, the officers were responding to assist another officer when the crash occurred just after 1 a.m. near the 610 North Loop and Ella Boulevard.
Authorities said the officer driving attempted to make a U-turn but lost control, crashing into a pillar.
Both officers were transported to the hospital in serious condition. One officer suffered broken bones, while the extent of the other officer’s injuries remains unknown.
Officials noted that both officers are relatively new to the force, with just 20 days left before their one-year mark.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
